The Work
Court-involved work requires clinicians who are comfortable with complexity.
Families may be experiencing significant conflict, difficult transitions, strained parent-child relationships, or ongoing disagreements about parenting. The clinician must be able to remain focused on therapeutic goals while understanding the unique dynamics created by Family Court involvement.
This work requires:
- Strong clinical judgment
- Family systems knowledge
- Clear professional boundaries
- Excellent documentation
- Professional neutrality
- Child-focused clinical thinking
- Comfort working with complex family dynamics
- Ability to communicate professionally with other involved professionals
The two-therapist model for co-parenting provides a specialized opportunity for clinicians interested in working with parents while maintaining separate therapeutic relationships and coordinated treatment goals.
