Swim Instructor Assistant

About the Role
Support safe, fun, and engaging swim classes for youth and adults. Assist instructors, demonstrate skills, and help create a positive learning environment for all participants.
What You Will Do
- Support swim instruction for youth and adults
- Demonstrate basic swim skills during classes
- Ensure safety through active supervision
- Assist with class flow and participant engagement
- Model YMCA values in all interactions
Qualifications
- Minimum age 14
- Demonstrates emotional maturity and sound judgment
- Ability to swim as determined by passing a swim test
- Includes completing required strokes and treading water for at least two minutes
- Maintain current First Aid certification or obtain within 60 days
- Upon turning 16, obtain HCP CPR and either Lifeguard or Aquatic Safety Assistant certification within 90 days
- Ability to obtain YMCA certifications such as Basic Swim Lesson Instructor and Water Fitness Instructor
- Ability to obtain New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, and Safety and Risk Management within 60–90 days
