Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- The Fundamentals of EE I Laboratory Teaching Assistant supports the instructor in conducting undergraduate electrical circuits laboratory sessions.
- Responsibilities include assisting students with circuit construction, measurement, testing, and troubleshooting; demonstrating the proper use of laboratory equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, and DC power supplies.
- Helping students relate experimental results to circuit theory and simulations.
- Reinforcing laboratory safety and good engineering practices; and assisting with grading laboratory reports and assignments.
- The Teaching Assistant may also help prepare laboratory equipment and materials before each session and ensure that laboratory stations are properly organized after use.
- The teaching assistant maybe asked to support grading for certain elements of assessment, such as lab report pre-grading and quizzes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of ELEE 2500/2510 or equivalent courses.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (if any):
- Knowledge of fundamental electrical circuit concepts, including Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's laws, nodal and mesh analysis, Thévenin and Norton equivalents, operational amplifiers, and basic RC and RL circuits.
- Ability to safely operate common laboratory equipment, interpret circuit diagrams, construct and troubleshoot circuits, and use circuit simulation software such as LTspice, Multisim, or equivalent tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to clearly explain laboratory procedures and technical concepts, identify common circuit and measurement errors, work effectively with undergraduate students, and maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment.
Anticipated Schedule:
- 10 hours a week, including Mondays 2-5 pm.
