Criminal Defense Investigative Assistant — Student Position
We are seeking a dependable, curious, and detail-oriented college student to assist a criminal defense legal team with case research and investigation. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in law, criminal justice, investigations, psychology, journalism, or public service to gain practical experience.
No previous investigative or legal experience is required. Training and supervision will be provided.
What You’ll Do:
Review and organize police reports, videos, photographs, and other case materials
Help create case timelines, witness lists, and evidence summaries
Conduct lawful public-record, court-record, news, and online research
Compare information from different sources and identify inconsistencies or missing details
Assist with locating potential witnesses using authorized research methods
Help prepare questions and take accurate notes during interviews
Organize discovery and maintain clear, searchable case files
Assist with documenting relevant locations when fieldwork is required
Complete general research and administrative assignments that support case preparation
Protect confidential information and follow all office procedures
