Research Associate I - Bhattacharyya Lab

Research Associate I - Bhattacharyya Lab

The candidate will be responsible for designing and executing experiments and analyzing the resulting data on projects relating to antimicrobial resistance, including transcriptomic and other functional genomic studies, classical and molecular microbiology, single-cell host immune transcriptional profiling in samples collected from patients with known or suspected infection, and/or implementation and validation of novel rapid diagnostic assays derived therefrom.

The ideal candidate will work well with others in a medium-sized laboratory environment and will be facile in and eager to develop skills in both bench science and computational analysis of genomic datasets. Prior successful candidates have been preparing for either medical school, graduate school (especially PhD-level science track), or both. SeeĀ https://bhattacharyyalab.org for more context and details.

  • Design, execute, analyze, and interpret experiments, including isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cell populations from clinical samples, flow cytometry, single-cell host immune cell profiling, functional assays of immune cells, cloning, measuring antimicrobial resistance via minimal inhibitory concentration testing or time-kill curves, RNA-Seq derivation of transcriptional profiles of various bacterial and/or fungal pathogens upon antimicrobial exposure
  • Good lab techniques including microbial and immune cell culture and manipulations
  • Productive collaborations with clinicians as needed to interpret data and apply findings
  • Dependable execution of lab jobs
