IMPORTANT: All intern candidates must have received basic journalism training in a classroom setting and/or by working as a reporter (including for student-run campus news outlets) before applying for a BINJ internship. We do not accept applications from anyone who is not at least a sophomore in college or 19 years old--whichever comes first.

The Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism, an 11-year-old, award-winning, investigative-reporting incubator serving Massachusetts, is seeking several reporting interns to produce news articles across a broad array of beats for our independent, statewide, weekly news magazine BINJ.News (check it out at BINJ.News). 

All interns are supervised directly by BINJ Executive Director Jason Pramas. The positions are remote and interns able to work in the US will be paid $150 upon publishing one short (700-1200 word) feature article in BINJ.News.  

Internships are typically informal, but BINJ also works with interns participating in formal internship programs at their schools for academic credit. 

Fast weekly intern check-in meetings are Fridays at 5 p.m. or by appointment, always via Google Meet. Schedule and hours are project-based and very flexible, as are the start and end dates of the internship. Each intern commits to publishing just one short feature article while in the BINJ internship program. Easy to work around other school and work commitments.
