Psychologist III

PSYCHOLOGIST III 
Dutchess County Department of Mental Health 

This is a professional position in the Department of Mental Health. The incumbent serves as the Department’s Chief Psychologist. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for supervising the Court Forensic Team and participating in the Department’s Research Committee, Quality Improvement Committee, and the Utilization Review/Patient Care Committee. 

This position is distinguished from Psychologist I and Psychologist II in the qualifications and the nature of the position, as it is primarily administrative and supervisory in nature. However, as a senior clinician, the incumbent will be called upon to evaluate the competence of persons per Article 7.30 of NYS Criminal Procedure Law and to assist individuals, families and/or groups as a member of DMH’s Trauma Team. 

Work is performed under the general supervision of the DMH Medical Director, with leeway in the exercise of professional methodology and judgment. An employee may be required to serve on any of the Department's standing or ad hoc committees. 

Supervision is exercised over less experienced professional and/or paraprofessional staff. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current licensure as a Psychologist by the New York State Department of Education and five years of supervisory experience. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Your degree or college credit must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid Driver License to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at time of application and to maintain the position. 

FINGERPRINTING: A fingerprint supported background investigation is required before an appointment is made to some positions. Pursuant to New York State Executive Law, the Division of Criminal Justice Services requires that a fee accompany each such request for a search. It is due once a job offer is made and accepted by the applicant.
