Molecular Biology Intern

Molecular Biology Intern – Fall 2026

We are seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join our research team as a Molecular Biology Intern for the Fall 2026 semester. This position is well suited for a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related field who is interested in gaining hands-on laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

The Molecular Biology Intern will work with members of the research team to support ongoing laboratory experiments and research activities. Responsibilities will include:

  • Follow established protocols and instructions to carry out molecular biology experiments
  • Perform accurate pipetting and preparation of samples and solutions
  • Conduct gel electrophoresis and document experimental results
  • Perform DNA isolation and related molecular biology procedures
  • Assist with preparation of reagents, media, and laboratory materials
  • Run experiments, collect data, and record observations and results
  • Maintain accurate and organized laboratory records
  • Help analyze experimental results and identify whether experiments were successful
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace
  • Properly label, store, and dispose of laboratory materials
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and good laboratory practices
  • Work collaboratively with scientists and other members of the research team

Minimum Requirements

  • Current sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate student
  • Coursework in biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related discipline
  • Basic understanding of molecular biology concepts and laboratory procedures
  • Familiarity with safe laboratory practices
  • Ability to follow written and verbal experimental protocols carefully
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to accurately document experimental procedures and results
  • Dependable, curious, and willing to learn

Desired Laboratory Skills

  • Previous laboratory coursework or hands-on experience with some or all of the following is preferred:
  • Micropipetting
  • Gel electrophoresis
  • DNA isolation and purification
  • Preparation of buffers and solutions
  • Aseptic laboratory techniques
  • Basic laboratory equipment
  • Recording and organizing experimental data

This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in a biotechnology research environment while developing core molecular biology skills and learning how laboratory experiments contribute to an active research and development program.
