Description of Organization:

The Baruch STEP Academy is an academic enrichment program focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and providing college preparation. Managed through the CUNY Research Foundation, we serve middle and high school students throughout the city.

The Fall 2026 Program will operate over 10 Saturday sessions, October 3 - December 12, excluding November 28.

 

High School Math Instructor (In-Person)

Course Title: Geometry Review   |   Schedule: 9am-10:25am

Course Description: This course will review topics from the NYSED curriculum in the preparation for the June 2026 regents exam.

Additional Information: This course is designed for students who already passed Algebra 1 and/or will take a geometry course in their schools this fall. 

   

Specific Duties

Plan, teach and prepare materials for 20 students

Evaluate individual student performance

Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments

Monitor and maintain student attendance records 

Reassess curriculum based on students' needs, interests, and understanding of materials

 

Qualifications

   -Required:

  • Availability for each program day from 9am – 10:25am.
  • Strong background in geometry
  • Experience in a teaching capacity in the subject area
  • Prior experience with designing/implementing a geometry/math course curriculum
  • Have a strong classroom management style

   -Preferred:

  • Degree in a STEM or education 
  • Prior teaching experience with middle, high school, or undergraduate students
     
  • Ability to engage students with creative lessons and innovative teaching style
  • Possess good interpersonal skills with adolescents and a strong understanding of their maturity levels
  • Enthusiasm for the subject with flexibility in adjusting curriculum to reflect students' abilities

 

Salary: $1,350= $45 an hour x 3 hours (1.5 hours of instruction + 1.5 hour of preparation) x 10 sessions
