Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Android Developer Intern to join our technology team and contribute directly to the development, testing, and improvement of the VidaSana mobile application.

This is a targeted technical internship specifically for graduate students enrolled in master's-level programs who have demonstrated hands-on experience in Android development and mobile application development.

Our development team is looking to strengthen its Android and mobile application capabilities. The selected intern will bring existing Android/mobile development knowledge to the team while working closely with the CTO and product team to build, test, troubleshoot, and improve the Android experience of the VidaSana application.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a graduate student who wants to apply advanced technical knowledge to a real-world product, strengthen their software engineering portfolio, and gain experience working within an early-stage technology startup.

What You'll Do

Android & Mobile App Development

  • Develop and improve features for the VidaSana Android mobile application
  • Build, test, and maintain Android application functionality
  • Translate product requirements and UI/UX designs into functional mobile experiences
  • Develop reusable and maintainable mobile application components
  • Troubleshoot Android-specific bugs and technical issues
  • Help improve application performance, reliability, and user experience
  • Support the continued development and refinement of the Android version of the VidaSana app

Android Development

  • Develop Android applications using Kotlin and/or Java
  • Work with Android Studio and related Android development tools
  • Apply software engineering best practices to mobile development
  • Debug and troubleshoot application issues
  • Implement mobile application features and user flows
  • Test application functionality across Android devices and operating system versions

API & Backend Integration

  • Integrate Android application features with backend APIs
  • Work with REST APIs and application data
  • Assist with authentication and user-management functionality
  • Support communication between the mobile application and backend systems
  • Troubleshoot API and mobile application integration issues

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Test new Android features and application updates
  • Identify, reproduce, document, and troubleshoot bugs
  • Participate in functional and usability testing
  • Evaluate application performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with the development team to resolve technical issues
  • Help ensure features meet product and technical requirements

Team Collaboration

  • Work directly with the CTO and technology/product team
  • Participate in sprint planning, standups, development discussions, and code reviews
  • Collaborate with designers and product stakeholders
  • Communicate technical progress, challenges, and solutions
  • Contribute ideas for improving the Android user experience

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a master's-level graduate program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Mobile Application Development, or a related field
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Android development — required
  • Demonstrated experience developing mobile applications — required
  • Experience with Kotlin and/or Java — required
  • Experience with Android Studio or a comparable Android development environment — required
  • Understanding of mobile application development principles
  • Experience debugging, testing, and troubleshooting applications
  • Familiarity with APIs and application integration
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub or another version-control system
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote development team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and deploying Android applications
  • Experience with Android SDK, Jetpack, Kotlin, or Java
  • Experience integrating mobile applications with REST APIs
  • Experience with Git and GitHub
  • Experience working with databases or backend services
  • Experience with React Native or Expo
  • Experience testing applications across multiple Android devices
  • Previous internship, professional, research, or graduate-level project experience in software engineering or mobile development
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
  • Interest in wellness technology, digital health, consumer technology, or startup environments

Required Android & Mobile Development Experience

Because this position is specifically intended to strengthen VidaSana's Android development capabilities, Android/mobile application development experience is an essential requirement.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate relevant experience through at least one of the following:

  • Android applications developed through graduate coursework
  • Personal Android or mobile application projects
  • Professional or internship experience
  • Research or software engineering projects
  • GitHub repositories demonstrating Android development
  • Mobile applications developed as part of academic or independent projects
  • A portfolio demonstrating Android or mobile application development

Time Commitment

  • Remote
  • Approximately 10–20 hours per week, 3-Month Commitment
