Fall Operations Internship
Pay: $17.50 - $24.00 per hour
Job description:
About Players Sport & Social Group
Players Sport & Social Group is one of Chicago's leading adult recreational sports organizations, hosting and facilitating large-scale adult sports leagues and social events across the city. We create social sport competitions that give people a fun, safe, and welcoming environment to play, compete, and connect.
The Internship
The Sports Management Intern plays a hands-on role in the day-to-day operations of our sports leagues and events — league supervision, inventory management, staffing support, customer service, and more. It's real, resume-building experience on the operations side of sports and social entertainment, and an ideal fit for business, sports management, recreation, or physical education students who want to learn how a high-volume league operation actually runs (and have fun doing it). Because that's when our leagues and events happen, this internship requires evening and weekend availability.
What You'll Do
- Assist in planning and running PSSG leagues and tournaments
- Supervise leagues across all sports, keeping games running smoothly and on schedule
- Deliver equipment to league locations and support setup and teardown
- Provide excellent customer service on-site and over the phone
- Manage equipment and t-shirt inventory
- Support staffing and coordination at leagues, parties, and events on weeknights and weekends
- Socialize with players and guests, and represent and promote the PSSG brand
What We're Looking For
- Pursuing (or holding) a degree in business, sports management, physical education, or recreation
- Available approximately 30 hours per week, split between office hours and on-site at leagues/events
- Familiarity with the city of Chicago
- Friendly, outgoing, and genuinely enjoys socializing with others
- Interested in sports and recreational activities
- Reliable access to a car (mileage reimbursed) and a valid driver's license — required
- Past officiating or umpiring experience is a plus (not required)
What You'll Gain
- Real operational experience running small-to- large-scale sports leagues and events
- Hands-on exposure to event management, logistics, inventory, and customer service
- Mentorship from PSSG's operations team
- A fast-paced, social environment — and a strong line on your resume
- Potential academic credit (if arranged with your school) and a possible pathway to future roles with PSSG
Term & Hours
Fall 2026 — September 1 through December 21. About 30 hours per week, split between office and on-site work, including weeknight evenings and weekends.
