Program: School Year Saturday Sessions Location: Mounds Park Academy (St. Paul) or Chaska HS Schedule

One Saturday/month, ~8:30 AM–3:00 PM + prep Compensation: $125 per 

Saturday Session Organization Description Breakthrough Twin Cities (BTC) prepares students for college success and cultivates the next generation of educators. An independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit with sites in St. Paul and Eastern Carver County, BTC offers a six-year pathway to college for historically marginalized students and their families. Students in the middle school program complete three summers of academic enrichment—taking classes in math, science, literature, and social studies—taught by a diverse faculty of Teaching Fellows: college and high school students exploring the field of education with training and support from Breakthrough. Throughout the school year, middle school students attend Saturday Sessions to continue building the skills, habits, and resumes they need to become successful high school students. Students then matriculate into the College Bound program (grades 9–12), where they receive targeted, grade-specific support, continue Saturday programming, and work one-on-one with a college counselor in 11th and 12th grades—with 99% graduating from high school. Position Overview

 The School Year Facilitator is a key instructional leader within Breakthrough Twin Cities’ (BTC) School Year Program. Facilitators customize and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons and activities during monthly Saturday Sessions, supporting middle and high school students in their social-emotional growth and community development. This role blends curriculum design, collaborative teaching, event management, and youth mentorship. Facilitators work closely with a co-facilitator and BTC staff to facilitate meaningful learning experiences aligned with monthly themes. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Customize and Deliver Content 
  •  Lesson content focuses on social-emotional learning (SEL) and restorative practices; community-building; healthy relationships; conflict resolution; and college and career preparation and readiness. •
  • Incorporate interactive, age-appropriate, and culturally responsive teaching strategies. 
  • Student Engagement & Program Support • Facilitate additional activities throughout the day, including community-building games, group activities, and end-of-day fun events. 
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. 
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for students. 
  •  Ensure student safety, accountability, and engagement during off-campus experiences. 
  • Support logistics and transitions during field trips in coordination with BTC staff. 

 Commitment Facilitators must be available for the following Saturday Sessions, each running approximately 8:30 AM–3:00 PM: 

  • September 19, 2026 
  • October 10, 2026 
  • November 7, 2026 
  • December 5, 2026 
  • January 23, 2027 
  • February 20, 2027 
  • March 20, 2027 
  • April 17, 2027 
  • May 15, 2027 

Qualifications 

Strongly aligned with BTC’s mission and values, with a commitment to making a difference in the BTC community. 

Experience working with middle or high school-aged youth (preferred). Experience with BTC (preferred but not required). 

Strong interest in education, youth development, or social-emotional learning. Ability to customize engaging lesson content and facilitate group activities. Strong collaboration and communication skills. 

Reliable and committed to attending all program dates. Support & Supervision Facilitators will receive: 

Compensation • $125 per Saturday Session —contingent on completing all prep checklist items. • $75 stipend —if attending a Saturday without a completed prep checklist. • Orientation: $100 stipend (lunch included); held on September 12, 2026 at Mounds Park Academy from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
