Part-time ESOL Program Coordinator

We are seeking an ESOL Program Coordinator to oversee our growing ESOL program and support our students and volunteer teachers. 

The ESOL Program Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director and serves as the primary point of contact for our adult learners and volunteer teachers. The coordinator oversees student enrollment and placement, supports teachers, monitors student progress, and helps ensure that our program remains welcoming, organized, and responsive to the needs of the community.

 

Key Responsibilities

● Coordinate student enrollment, orientation, placement, and ongoing
communication
● Administer and coordinate English language assessments, including TABE CLAS-E
● Match students with appropriate classes based on English proficiency, goals, and
availability
● Onboard, support, and communicate with volunteer ESOL teachers
● Provide teachers with curriculum, instructional resources, and ongoing
support
● Monitor student attendance, participation, progress, and retention
● Maintain accurate student and program records
● Build relationships with students and help identify goals and address barriers
● Communicate effectively with students in both English and Spanish
● Collaborate with the Executive Director on program planning, evaluation, and
growth
● Support community outreach, student recruitment, and partnerships with local organizations
● Help foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for adult learners from diverse backgrounds

 

Schedule & Compensation

● Approximately 24 hours per week, Monday through Thursday
● School-year schedule generally following the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools teacher calendar
● Summers, school holidays, and Fridays off
● Primarily in person at Carolina Literacy in Carrboro, with flexibility to complete
some administrative work remotely
● Annual salary of $35,000–$40,000, based on experience
