Test Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and highly technical Test Engineer to join our cross‑functional product team and increase the quality of features before they advance to broader system testing. This role is ideal for a tester who can apply the full software testing lifecycle to translate requirements and designs into focused test coverage, evaluate feature behavior, identify functional, integration, usability, and regression risks early in development. You will work closely with developers, DevOps, product owners, UX designers, and hardware engineers to validate enterprise‑grade web applications and supporting infrastructure, as well as proprietary embedded software, firmware, and hardware platforms.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Apply the software testing lifecycle to feature development, including requirements analysis, test planning, test design, execution, defect management, reporting, and test closure.
  • Develop and execute risk-based functional, integration, negative, boundary, exploratory, usability, and regression tests across affected interfaces, APIs, services, data flows, and components.
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, UX designers, and testers to clarify requirements, improve testability, resolve defects, and advocate for quality and the user experience.
  • Evaluate change impacts, maintain appropriate test data and coverage, and contribute to repeatable feature-level test automation.
  • Confirm that acceptance criteria are satisfied and communicate unresolved defects, dependencies, limitations, and residual risks before the feature advances to system testing.
  • Improve testing practices, documentation, tools, and team processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Requires a consistent and dependable work history, ideally reflecting 3-5 years of tenure with each previous employer.
  • Ability to apply software testing lifecycle skills to features spanning multiple application components.
  • Ability to analyze application behavior, logs, test data, configurations, and component interactions to reproduce and isolate defects.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across product, development, UX, and testing teams.
  • Adaptable, detail-oriented team player who advocates for quality, user-centered design, and continuous improvement.
  • Practical experience with risk-based, context-driven, and exploratory testing.
  • Familiarity with enterprise web applications, hardware systems, embedded software, and/or firmware testing.
  • Adaptable, curious, and eager to learn new tools, technologies, and testing strategies.
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical issues and collaborate effectively within and across teams.
  • Empathetic team player who values diverse perspectives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three or more years of hands-on feature testing experience in Agile development environments.
  • Experience testing features across user interfaces, APIs, services, data flows, and component boundaries.
  • Familiarity with testing enterprise web applications and features that interact with embedded software, firmware, or hardware.
  • Experience using automated testing tools or scripts to support feature validation and targeted regression testing.
  • Experience with Python, Java, or a similar programming language.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and testing changes across development and test environments.
  • Experience with usability, accessibility, performance, or security-related feature testing.
  • Proficiency with test management, defect tracking, and documentation tools.
  • Experience analyzing deployment-related issues using logs, configurations, build artifacts, or environment diagnostics.
