Tax Services Intern
As a Tax Intern, you will support our team in preparing individual and business tax returns, organizing client documentation, and ensuring accurate, timely filings. This internship provides hands-on experience with real clients, real projects, and the opportunity to explore a career in public accounting (with the very real possibility/intention of continuing on to a permanent part-time/full-time job)!
Responsibilities and Roles:
Tax Preparation Support
- Help organize and evaluate client-provided documentation for readiness and completeness
- Assist with preparing individual tax returns (Form 1040)
- Support the preparation of small business returns and related schedules
- Assist with preparing business tax returns (1120, 1120S, 1065; this will depend on the internship start date)
- Work alongside team members to ensure accuracy and compliance in tax filings
- Assist with extensions, quarterly estimates, and other hands-on tax projects, as needed
Client Experience Support
- Communicate with clients to gather missing information or clarify documentation
- Contribute to making the tax prep process smoother and more efficient for clients
- Observe and participate in client discussions where tax returns/planning strategies are reviewed
Firm-Wide Projects
- Collaborate on improving internal processes and documentation for tax season
- Assist with research on new tax laws, updates, and client impact
- Contribute ideas to firm initiatives that help us deliver excellent client experiences year-round
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes:

- Demonstrates professionalism in managing schedule and work priorities to ensure the work gets done accurately and on time
- Interest in working in small to mid-size public accounting firm post-graduation
- Strong interest in pursuing a CPA licensure upon graduation
Education and Experience:
- Junior or senior during the winter of 2027
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred)
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work out of Grand Rapids, MI or Woodridge, IL office
- Ability to work 25-40 hours per week (we can build schedule based on the candidate's availability)
- Typical in-office hours are 8:30am – 5:00pm CST/EST, allowing for flexibility and remote working with adequate communication.
