Our client is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care to patients in an acute care hospital setting. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced Respiratory Therapists and new grads looking to begin their careers in a supportive hospital environment.
This positions offers 12-hour shifts and the opportunity to work alongside an experience multidisciplinary care team.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions
- Administer oxygen, aerosol medications, and other prescribed respiratory treatments
- Operate and monitor ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, and other respiratory care equipment
- Perform diagnostic tests and procedures, including arterial blood gas collection and analysis, pulmonary function testing, and pulse oximetry
- Respond to emergency situations, including rapid response and code events
- Assist with airway management, intubation, extubation, and mechanical ventilation as appropriate
- Monitor patients' responses to treatment and adjust care according to established protocols and physician orders
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, and equipment
- Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and progress
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program
- Active Respiratory Therapist license in Rhode Island, or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred
- BLS certification, or willingness to obtain
- Willingness and availability to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
