Instruction Coordinator

The Instruction Coordinator serves as a member of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries'  Teaching & Learning Programs (TLP) office. TLP leads the library instruction program, online learning development, the Go Big Read common reading program, and instructional engagement & outreach for campus libraries.

As a member of the TLP office, this position leads the coordination of the Libraries’ instructional services for the undergraduate Communication-A requirement. This position plays a central role in designing, delivering, and assessing library instruction that supports student learning and research. The Instruction Coordinator will also collaborate closely with the Science and Engineering Libraries and Undergraduate Library Services Instruction Coordinators to develop instructional strategies, materials, and engagements with campus course coordinators and instructors.

This position will contribute to training the next generation of library instructors by leading the Student Library Instructors program, which includes recruiting, managing, and mentoring University of Wisconsin-Madison Information School (iSchool) students that teach library instruction sessions. Additionally this position provides support for the Library and Information Sciences Teaching & Learning Practicum (LIS 862). 

The role also includes ongoing professional development, participation in professional organizations, and service on library and campus committees to advance the mission of the Libraries. The position supports the Libraries’ broader mission of fostering student success through innovative and responsive instructional services.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:

-Chairs the Communication-A Coordination Committee and provides programmatic coordination of library instruction for the Communication-A undergraduate requirement.

-Provides significant instructional services for undergraduate Communication-A courses by designing, developing, and delivering library instruction in a variety of formats.

-Leads the Student Library Instructor Program for Teaching & Learning Programs, including hiring, training, and supervising students.

-Collaborates with Teaching & Learning Programs staff to foster community and provide professional development for library staff

-Keeps current with developments in pedagogy and librarianship through engagement in local, regional, and national professional organizations and professional development.

This position is eligible for partial remote work. A remote work agreement may allow for a maximum of 40% remote per week.
 

This position is full-time, 100%.
