Summer 2027 Internship: Facilities Engineering and Commissioning
QTS' summer internship program will provide you first hand experience into the fast paced world of the data center industry by providing weekly lunch and learns, a comprehensive orientation program, and site based activities, socials and volunteering events. Every intern will be assigned initiatives tied to real QTS objectives helping with anything pertaining to the whole life-cycle of a data center build and/or company operations.
The Facilities Operations and Commissioning Intern will be fully immersed the project life-cycle of commissioning/de-commissioning events at an active Data Center. Responsibilities can include, but aren't limited to:
Facilities Engineering Intern:
Assist with engineering aspects of data center site startup or commissioning projects.
Participate in the design, configuration, and commissioning of data center facilities.
Support engineering improvements and automation projects using tools like Revit, CAD, and DCIM software.
Assist in the development of project plans and timelines for site startup and commissioning activities.
Monitor and report on project progress, identifying any issues or delays.
Help develop and implement automation solutions to enhance data center operations.
Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and reports for engineering projects.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Facilities Management, or similar field
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint for presentations and Excel for data analysis and budgeting.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Must be a US Citizen

Current full-time enrollment in one of QTS’s partner institutions (listed below) or a Blackstone Launchpad affiliate school:

Southern Adventist University
Texas A&M University
University of Kansas
Previous internship or co-op experience in construction, finance, technology, data center, facilities engineering, or related industries.
Involvement in community activities outside of schoolwork (athletics, clubs, volunteering, part-time employment).
