Performance Creative Intern, AI Video Ads

Find the advertising ideas that make people stop, care, and act. Turn those ideas into AI-native video ads, measure what happens, and use the results to decide what we create next.

Wellspoken is an AI communication coaching app that helps people become clearer, more confident, and more articulate speakers. People use Wellspoken for interviews, meetings, presentations, leadership, and difficult conversations. Our organic video content reaches millions of viewers each month, and we are building a larger performance creative engine.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own the full creative loop: research, hypothesis, concept, script, production, testing, analysis, and iteration.
• Research customers, competitors, reviews, comments, trends, and ad libraries to uncover promising angles.
• Develop distinct creative concepts rooted in audience insight and a clear reason each idea should work.
• Write 15 to 60 second scripts with strong hooks, clear value, and a compelling call to action.
• Produce finished, testable ads using AI video, image, voice, avatar, editing, and design tools.
• Run structured experiments across hooks, formats, messages, visuals, and offers.
• Analyze creative performance, including hook rate, retention, click-through rate, conversion rate, cost per acquisition, and revenue.
• Turn performance data into sharper hypotheses and stronger next ads.

PORTFOLIO OR REEL REQUIRED

Include 2 to 4 examples of work you personally helped create. At least one example must be a finished ad, AI-generated video, or closely related short-form video designed to earn attention and drive action.

For each example, briefly explain:
• What you personally contributed
• The idea or hypothesis behind the piece
• The tools and workflow you used
• Any performance results or lessons you can share

Links to live ads, videos, social accounts, campaigns, or a portfolio are welcome. Freelance, startup, personal, hackathon, and class projects all count when your ownership is clear.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We care deeply about high agency. You treat obstacles as problems to understand and solve. When an idea or tool fails, you debug it, identify the underlying constraint, and find another path. You use first-principles thinking to understand why previous attempts struggled, then form a stronger hypothesis and test it.

You'll thrive here if you:
• Keep moving through ambiguity and create clarity as you go.
• Turn failed creatives into clearer hypotheses and stronger next tests.
• Combine creative judgment with analytical reasoning.
• Learn unfamiliar tools quickly and use them resourcefully.
• Take ownership from the first idea through production and performance analysis.
• Write clearly and understand what earns attention, builds desire, and drives action.
• Care about details while maintaining a fast learning and testing cadence.

TIME COMMITMENT

Ideally, you can commit an average of at least 20 hours per week. Some weeks may be heavier and others lighter. We understand that exams and other commitments happen, and we'll plan around them with clear communication.

COMPENSATION AND PERKS

• $40 to $50 per hour
• Flexible, part-time schedule centered around 20+ hours per week on average
• Remote within the United States, with the option to work together in person in Richmond, Virginia
• Direct collaboration with the founders
• Real creative budgets, real customer feedback, and fast iteration cycles
• Opportunity to continue and grow with the team based on strong performance

HOW TO APPLY

Apply through Handshake with your resume and links to 2 to 4 work samples. Put your portfolio or reel link prominently in your resume or application materials. For each sample, briefly state what you personally created and any performance results you can share.

Finalists will complete a short, practical creative exercise similar to the work they would do in the role.
