Internship Type: Part-time, in-person with digital and print marketing, and sales responsibilities
Compensation: $10 per hour plus commission

About NOVA

NOVA is a creative community business with three connected areas:

  • A second-hand upcycle fashion boutique
  • A creative studio offering in-person experiences, classes, workshops, and take-home craft kits
  • The Summit Room, a third-floor meeting and event space available for classes, workshops, clubs, and outside rentals

NOVA also offers membership-based clubs designed to help customers connect, create, and participate in ongoing activities.

Internship Overview

NOVA is seeking a Marketing & Sales Intern to help increase both online and in-person sales and customer participation.

The intern will market NOVA’s boutique products, creative experiences, classes and workshops, craft kits, clubs, and Summit Room rentals. The intern will also help operate the physical boutique by providing excellent customer service and closing sales to in-person customers.

This position is ideal for students who want practical experience in digital marketing, retail operations, customer engagement, content creation, sales, and small-business development. Students with an interest in arts, crafts, sustainability, and creativity will find this opportunity especially interesting.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Marketing and Online Customer Growth

  • Promote boutique merchandise available through NOVA’s website and social media
  • Attract online customers interested in upcycled fashion items
  • Promote online registration for NOVA clubs
  • Market the Summit Room to teachers, workshop leaders, community groups, wellness providers, and other potential renters
  • Promote online sign-ups for in-person creative experiences
  • Market take-home craft kits to individuals, families, gift buyers, and community organizations
  • Create and schedule social media posts, short videos, email content, and other digital promotions
  • Help improve product descriptions, event listings, and website content
  • Track engagement, inquiries, registrations, and customer conversions
  • Recommend marketing experiments based on customer response and performance data
  • Optimize website metadata to improve searchability.

Local and In-Person Marketing

  • Develop promotions that encourage walk-in traffic
  • Help market the upcycle boutique to college students, families, visitors, and local residents
  • Promote in-person workshops, creative experiences, club activities, and craft kits
  • Support local outreach through flyers, partnerships, community groups, and special events
  • Help create seasonal campaigns and promotional displays

Boutique Operations and Customer Service

  • Welcome and assist in-person customers
  • Answer questions about clothing, craft kits, experiences, clubs, and Summit Room rentals
  • Help keep the boutique clean, organized, and inviting
  • Help arrange and maintain clothing displays
  • Restock merchandise and craft kits
  • Assist with tagging, pricing, and basic inventory organization
  • Help customers understand upcycling options and creative services
  • Observe customer needs and recommend improvements to the shopping experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current college student studying marketing, communications, business, entrepreneurship, retail, fashion, design, hospitality, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting with customers in person
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content
  • Organized, dependable, and attentive to detail
  • Interested in creativity, sustainable fashion, community programming, or small-business development
  • Able to work independently while also collaborating with a small team
  • Willing to learn from feedback and take initiative

Experience with photography, short-form video, Canva, social media management, email marketing, Wix, e-commerce, or retail sales is helpful but not required.
