Marketing & Community Outreach Intern

About Travel Vision Aloha: Travel Vision Aloha (TVA) is a Hawaiʻi nonprofit dedicated to serving the Blind and Visually Impaired community. As we grow our reach across the islands, we're looking for a marketing-minded intern who wants their work to open real doors — for the healthcare partners we connect with, the professionals we educate, and the community members we serve.

Job Description: This internship is built around hands-on projects that directly support TVA's outreach and fundraising efforts. The intern gets real ownership of research, outreach materials, content creation, and prospect-building — the kind of work that shows up in a portfolio, not just a to-do list. This is a volunteer-based internship.

What You'll Do:

  1. Healthcare Partner Outreach — Research eye care providers across Hawaiʻi, build and maintain a contact list, and help prepare and deliver informational mailers introducing TVA's programs and referral opportunities.
  2. Continuing Education (CEU) Program Development — Research the requirements and process for TVA to become an approved CEU provider for nurses and other licensed professionals, and compile findings into a clear action plan.
  3. Corporate & Gala Sponsorship Research — Identify and research Hawaiʻi businesses aligned with TVA's mission as potential gala sponsors, building a prioritized prospect list with contact details.
  4. Fundraiser & Event Promotion — Support promotion of TVA fundraising events across digital and community channels, including outreach copy, social posts, and flyers.
  5. Social Media & Podcast Content — Help plan, create, and post content across TVA's social channels, and support development of a podcast series sharing stories and resources for the Blind and Visually Impaired community, from topic research through episode promotion.

What You'll Gain: Real-world nonprofit marketing and business development experience. Direct exposure to donor, sponsor, and healthcare partnership development. Portfolio-ready deliverables — mailers, prospect lists, research reports, social and podcast content. Direct mentorship from TVA's founder.

Qualifications: Currently enrolled at Shidler College of Business in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management, or a related major. Strong written communication and comfortable working independently on research. Reliable transportation for occasional in-person drop-offs on Oʻahu. Comfort with social media platforms, basic content creation, or audio/video editing is a plus, but not required. A genuine interest in accessibility and nonprofit mission-driven work is a big plus.

Logistics: Employment Type is Internship, volunteer-based (unpaid). Approved Majors are Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management, and International Business. Location is Oʻahu, hybrid — remote research plus occasional in-person drop-offs. Hours are up to 20 per week during the school year, full-time available in summer, minimum 150 hours total. Program Coordinator is you, as founder of Travel Vision Aloha.
