Prosecution Intern

PAY RANGE: Unpaid internship opportunity
SCHEDULE: 10 to 20 hours per week, flexible with school schedule. Internship is expected to finish in December 2026.

JOB SUMMARY
- The Prosecution Intern works directly with the Lehi City prosecution staff handling Class B and C misdemeanors and infraction criminal cases in the Lehi City Justice Court. Responsibilities include legal research and writing, case file review, witness preparation assistance, drafting charging documents and motions, participating in court proceedings, including trials, and engaging in all aspects of criminal prosecution for a municipality. Lehi City handles Class B and C misdemeanors as well as infractions.
- The Prosecution Intern is supervised by an Assistant City Attorney and can appear in Court on their own after City staff have determined they are competent to handle the cases.
- Assists with other duties, as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- The intern must be a 2L or 3L student currently attending an accredited law school.
- The intern must be eligible to practice under Rule 4-807 of the Supreme Court Rules of Professional Practice.
- The intern will be participating in Court proceedings for Class B and C misdemeanors and infractions and must have completed a course on evidence, and a course on criminal procedure.
- As a condition of employment, the intern will need to have a background check and drug test conducted and be fingerprinted for BCI clearance as they will have access to confidential criminal records.
