Investment Operations Analyst
Nipun Capital is seeking a technically proficient individual to join our Investment Operations team. This hybrid role blends core operational responsibilities with significant technical exposure, including the opportunity to build, maintain, and enhance automated systems and analytical tools. You will work closely with senior investment professionals, engineers, and operations staff, gaining hands-on experience across many facets of managing a hedge fund. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has strong coding skills (especially in Python), and is eager to apply technical solutions to streamline workflows in a fast-paced investment environment.
Responsibilities
Operations & Accounting Automation
•Trade Reconciliation: Develop Python scripts to automate trade matching between internal records and prime broker data feeds.
•Cash and FX Management: Build tools for real-time monitoring of multi-currency balances, cash projections, and FX exposures across custodians and prime brokers.
•Fund Accounting Oversight: Work with third-party fund administrators; develop validation tools to verify NAV calculations, subscriptions/redemptions, fee accruals, and audit support data using Python/Pandas.
•Regulatory Reporting: Assist in the preparation and validation of data feeding into regulatory filings such as Form PF, Form ADV, Schedule 13F/13D, CFTC/NFA filings, and jurisdiction-specific filings (e.g., AIFMD, EMIR). Build Python-based checks to catch data inconsistencies before submission.
•Audit Coordination: Serve as a point of contact for year-end and interim audits, compiling supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation requested by external auditors and fund administrators.
Investment Operations & Fund Structuring
•Fund Financing Analytics: Create models to track and optimize financing costs across multiple instruments (equities, swaps, futures) and counterparties. Work with APIs and data pipelines to aggregate financing terms from prime brokers.
•Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA): Partner with the investment team to build tools that analyze execution costs and suggest optimal trading venues and strategies. Use Python to parse and visualize trading data for cost attribution and market impact studies.
•New Fund Launch Support: Assist in fund structuring and legal documentation reviews; automate compliance and reporting checklists. Use Python to template and populate recurring reporting formats from structured data sources.
Trading & Portfolio Support
•Trade Execution Tools: Build internal trading dashboards or scripts to facilitate real-time monitoring of trade flows, positions, and P&L.
•Exposure Management: Develop internal risk/exposure monitoring tools using Pandas, NumPy, and basic SQL to track factor exposures, net/gross positions, and liquidity metrics.
Client & Investor Support
•Client Reporting Automation: Work with the Investor Relations team to generate periodic client reports. Automate data extraction and formatting using Python and Excel libraries
•Query Management: Build internal tools or dashboards that allow quick lookup of investor-level data, fund-level metrics, and historical performance.
Qualifications
•Undergraduate degree in math/finance related field
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in fund/trade operations role
• Strong programming experience in Python, particularly with Pandas, NumPy, and data
manipulation/analysis libraries
• Familiarity with Excel automation (e.g., openpyxl, xlsxwriter) and SQL is a plus
• Experience with financial data, APIs, or trading systems is a bonus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; capable of building and maintaining robust internal
tools
• Interest in quantitative investment management and fund operations
• Detail-oriented, collaborative team player with strong communication skills
