Job Description

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Staff Writer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our success by supporting the law firm through drafting and preparing written documents and forms. This position requires exceptional organization, time management, and the ability to independently manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.

Job Summary

The Staff Writer will be responsible for assisting the Personal Injury Litigator in writing various documents, including letters, legal forms such as discovery requests and responses, motions and court documents, and other persuasive materials. The ideal candidate should possess strong writing skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate intellectual curiosity.

This individual will receive messages, arguments, and thoughts that need to be effectively communicated in writing and will collaborate closely with the attorney to refine and finalize documents. • Write clear, concise, and compelling documents, such as letters, briefs, and other persuasive materials, based on the provided instructions and guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough research to gather relevant information and supporting evidence for written materials.
  • Review and revise documents in response to attorney feedback and ensure adherence to established legal standards.
  • Assist in organizing and managing case-related documents, maintaining accurate records, and tracking deadlines.
  • Independently monitor and manage assigned deadlines, including court, discovery, filing, and internal deadlines, to ensure work is completed with sufficient time for attorney review.
  • Maintain an organized system for tracking assignments, priorities, and due dates and proactively follow up when additional information or attorney input is needed to complete an assignment on time.
  • Prioritize competing assignments based on urgency and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Take personal responsibility for assigned deadlines and communicate immediately if an issue may affect the timely completion of an assignment.
  • Stay updated on legal developments, industry trends, and best practices related to personal injury litigation to enhance the quality and effectiveness of written materials.

Requirements

  • Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to write quickly and efficiently without compromising quality.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn about personal injury law and related topics.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and guidelines accurately.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership over assigned work and due dates.
  • Ability to anticipate upcoming deadlines, plan work accordingly, and complete assignments with adequate time for review and revisions.
  • Ability to work independently and stay on top of responsibilities without relying on repeated reminders regarding deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and other team members.
  • Proficiency in using word processing software and other relevant tools.
