Foreign Service Officer Trainee
Begin a challenging and rewarding career with the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). FAS is a dynamic foreign affairs agency with offices in Washington, D.C. and nearly 100 countries around the world. FAS is seeking committed professionals with wide ranging skills and talents to help improve foreign market access for U.S. products, build new markets, enhance the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace, and provide food aid and technical assistance to foreign countries.
A two-year (24 months) applicant inventory is being established under this announcement. Best qualified applicants who pass a virtual written exercise and an in-person Assessment Forum will be considered for selection. If not selected during the first hiring round their applications will be maintained and they will be referred for future selection consideration as needed during the next 24 months.
The training period may be up to 4 years, with an average duration of 2.5 years.
