6th Grade Elementary Teacher

James Valley Christian School is seeking a full-time 6th Grade Elementary Teacher to join our faculty. The successful candidate will plan, organize, and implement an engaging instructional program in a Christ-centered elementary classroom environment.
This position requires a teacher who is committed to academic excellence, biblical integration, and partnering with families in Christian education.
Position Responsibilities
The 6th Grade Teacher will:
- Serve as a classroom leader committed to Christ-honoring excellence
- Integrate a biblical worldview across all subject areas
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum aligned with school standards
- Foster a safe, respectful, and academically focused classroom environment
- Engage and motivate students in a vibrant learning atmosphere
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
- Build positive, professional relationships with students, families, staff, and administration
- Partner intentionally with parents in the education and discipleship of students
- Utilize contemporary instructional strategies and relevant classroom technology
- Demonstrate understanding of cognitive, social, and emotional development of learners
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a healthy faculty culture
- Maintain professionalism, organization, and emotional maturity
Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid South Dakota teaching certificate with the appropriate endorsement for 6th grade issued by the South Dakota Department of Education
- Preferred endorsement: 5–8 Self-Contained Classroom or appropriate elementary endorsement qualifying the candidate to teach Grade 6
- Prior elementary classroom teaching experience preferred

- Agreement with James Valley Christian School’s Statement of Faith
- Active participation in a Bible-believing church
