6th Grade Elementary Teacher

Full-Time | PreK–12 | 2026–2027 School Year

James Valley Christian School is seeking a full-time 6th Grade Elementary Teacher to join our faculty. The successful candidate will plan, organize, and implement an engaging instructional program in a Christ-centered elementary classroom environment.

This position requires a teacher who is committed to academic excellence, biblical integration, and partnering with families in Christian education.

Position Responsibilities

The 6th Grade Teacher will:

  • Serve as a classroom leader committed to Christ-honoring excellence
  • Integrate a biblical worldview across all subject areas
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum aligned with school standards
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and academically focused classroom environment
  • Engage and motivate students in a vibrant learning atmosphere
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
  • Build positive, professional relationships with students, families, staff, and administration
  • Partner intentionally with parents in the education and discipleship of students
  • Utilize contemporary instructional strategies and relevant classroom technology
  • Demonstrate understanding of cognitive, social, and emotional development of learners
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a healthy faculty culture
  • Maintain professionalism, organization, and emotional maturity

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid South Dakota teaching certificate with the appropriate endorsement for 6th grade issued by the South Dakota Department of Education
    • Preferred endorsement: 5–8 Self-Contained Classroom or appropriate elementary endorsement qualifying the candidate to teach Grade 6
  • Prior elementary classroom teaching experience preferred

Spiritual Requirements

  • A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Agreement with James Valley Christian School’s Statement of Faith
  • Active participation in a Bible-believing church
