The special events intern at St. Louis Public Radio (STLPR) is a member of the development team (fundraising) and supports community engagement through the promotion and execution of special events. STLPR is a nonprofit journalism organization and NPR member station. STLPR’s events are most often related to interesting and relevant content and projects from our newsroom. The events team plays a critical role in STLPR’s operation by creating opportunities for our community to engage with our work and create connections with others.

Duties:
· Help set up and break down events, including moving chairs and tables and other event related tasks.
· Support the events director in gathering event data, promoting events and other administrative tasks related to event planning, event execution and fundraising.
· Interns are invited to attend staff and departmental meetings and are encouraged to engage with other parts of our operation to gain a deeper understanding of public media.
· Candidates need to work the occasional evening and weekend, along with some weekday hours.
Qualifications:
- Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
- Confident communication skills (in-person, written)
- Willingness to learn about public media and/or fundraising
-Cultural competency
-Experience planning or executing special events
-Nonprofit experience
-Experience using Canva
