Life Design Assistant
Life Design Assistants are essential members of the Center for Advising, Career, and Life Design Team. Our team is committed to ensuring equitable access to resources as students navigate university systems and policies, explore the student experience, and engage in their unique career, academic, and personal development journeys.
Duties:
The Life Design Assistants will:
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Center - welcoming guests (students, faculty, and families), answering phones, responding to emails, and triaging requests with strong attention to detail, excellent customer service, calm problem-solving, and professionalism
- Ideate and create social media content (posts, videos, graphics, etc.) to support outreach and communication with key stakeholders - including students, staff, faculty, parents/family members, alumni, employers, and community partners
- Provide peer career mentorship, including reviewing resumes and cover letters and helping fellow students build foundational career-readiness skills (e.g., LinkedIn profiles, interview basics, etc.)
- Help plan and run registration workshops and other academic advising programming, guiding students through course selection and registration processes
- Assist in planning and executing events and represent both the Center and the University at admissions programs and other campus events.
- Maintain dependable attendance and follow-through on all assigned shifts and responsibilities
- Use technology and data tools (e.g., TracCloud, Microsoft Office/Excel, Canvas, MySalve) to track outreach, manage records, and support Center operations
- Provide support for evening and weekend programming as needed

- Be able to uphold appropriate privacy standards for sensitive information and demonstrate a commitment to equitable access to resources and opportunities
- Feel comfortable engaging with a wide range of individuals in group, one-on-one, and presentation settings
- Be comfortable learning and using basic technology and data systems to support Center operations
Availability Note:
- Must be available between 1-2pm at least 3 days a week (M-F)
- Must be available for some evenings or weekends as needed
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with social media platforms and content creation
- Previous experience in writing, event planning, graphic design, public speaking, or peer mentoring
