Pin Point Heritage Museum Site Manager

Pay: $36,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year

Description:

The PPHM Site Manager has overall responsibility for the daily leadership, management, and operation of the site, including visitor services, staffing, facilities and exhibit maintenance, POS operations, retail and vending inventory, and coordination of daily programming and scheduled booked tours. The PPHM Site Manager works with other managers and departments as needed to support effective site operations and a strong site team Additionally, the PPHM Site Manager also works to maintain strong community connections and goodwill while ensuring that the site’s operations and programming reflect the history, character, and significance of the Pin Point community.

Responsibilities:

· Demonstrate proficiency with site history and facts as well as site products and programs.

· Collaborate with Educators and Historical Interpreters to ensure guest-centric programming. Oversee education programs, field trips, daily tours, etc., leading the implementation of programs as needed.

· Monitor all necessary supplies for operations and programming to ensure inventory is orderly, clean, and replenished as necessary.

· Ensure the procedures for opening and closing the site are maintained daily.

· Perform the full range of supervisory duties to include hiring, training new staff, scheduling, and supervising daily staff members. Provide clear direction and supervision to fellow team members on a regular basis.

· Oversee daily programming and coordinate schedules with other operational departments such as marketing, development, etc.

· Serve as a resource for visitor needs, resolving guest relations matters as needed, and effectively communicating with other departments for resolution.

· Responds to event inquiries in a timely manner and coordinate and book events from initial inquiry through completion, serving as the on-site point of contact to oversee events, ensure compliance with site policies, and coordinate with clients and vendors as needed.

· Coordinate with Retail and Wholesale Manager regarding recommendations made by guests and staff for appealing and relevant merchandise for gift shop.

· Always ensure safety of guests and staff, intervening when needed to maintain safety and security of people and resources.

· Proactively communicate with visitors, staff, and all related departments to ensure continuity of programming and positive visitor experiences.

· Lead monthly meetings that include a safety component with site team and attend weekly manager meetings and other meetings as requested.

· Proactively coordinate with other Coastal Heritage Society departments as necessary.

· Maintain site training and emergency preparedness by ensuring first aid supplies and equipment are adequately stocked and in working order, reviewing the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) with staff, leading and documenting monthly safety meetings, and ensuring current SDS sheets are maintained and readily accessible.

· Oversee and coordinate site maintenance and grounds keeping, ensuring cleanliness and excellent appearance of site.

· Coordinate repair needs and issues with maintenance department for timely resolution.

· Oversee and perform cash handling and management of Point-of-Sale System (POS).

· Monitor and review monthly financial statements.

· Perform grant writing and research for Coastal Heritage Society projects, as needed and assigned.

· Assist with special projects, as needed and assigned.

· Provide excellent customer service and ensure positive visitor experience.

· Work with Historical Interpretation Manager to develop and implement engaging programs and exhibitions that meet the needs of diverse audiences.

· Build relationships with local communities to promote the museum and its mission.

· Deliver guided tours to daily guests and booked programs.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the Mission of Coastal Heritage Society.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study, Education, History, Communication, etc. and 3-5 years of experience with educational programs, youth groups, etc.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Understands and applies budget concepts to effectively manage site operations and resources.

· Provide clear direction and supervision to fellow team members on a regular basis.

· Build and maintain team spirit while conveying a positive attitude.

· Ability to positively work with students, teachers, children, guests, etc.

· Ability to multi-task and stay on track to meet goals and objectives.

· Cash handling and POS register operations.

· Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and special open days.

§ Much work of this position requires the ability to physically navigate a variety of spaces and terrain, both indoors and out, often in a dynamic space with a historical landscape.

§ Much work of this position is office work, at a desk using a computer and phone, at the physical site location assigned and occasionally at various other site locations of the Coastal Heritage Society.

§ May require bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting/moving objects of up to approximately 50 pounds for supplies and site-related equipment.

§ Requires ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a variety of audiences, team members, and guests.
