๐Ÿ’ป Make Coding Creative

Weโ€™re looking for an enthusiastic Scratch Programming Instructor to introduce high school students to programming through creative, hands-on projects.

Students will use Scratch to build games, animations, interactive stories, and other projects while developing fundamental programming and computational thinking skills.

You don't need to be a professional software developer or experienced teacher. If you're comfortable with Scratch or have a foundation in programming and enjoy helping students create, experiment, and solve problems, you may be a great fit.

Curriculum guidance and instructional materials are provided, giving you a structured foundation while allowing you to bring your own examples, creativity, and teaching style to the classroom.

๐ŸŽฏ What You'll Do

  • Lead engaging, hands-on Scratch programming sessions
  • Introduce students to programming and computational thinking concepts
  • Teach concepts such as sequences, loops, events, conditionals, variables, and debugging
  • Guide students in creating games, animations, interactive stories, and other projects
  • Demonstrate coding techniques and explain concepts clearly
  • Help students troubleshoot their projects and understand how to improve their code
  • Encourage experimentation, creativity, and independent problem-solving
  • Challenge students to expand and refine their projects
  • Adapt instruction to different skill levels and learning styles
  • Encourage collaboration and positive peer interaction
  • Provide constructive feedback and celebrate student progress
  • Create a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative classroom environment
  • Communicate professionally with program coordinators and school staff
  • Arrive prepared, dependable, and ready to inspire young creators

You don't need to be a professional programmer or traditional teacher. We're looking for someone who can make coding approachable, creative, and engaging for high school students.

You may be a great fit if you have:

  • Familiarity with Scratch or other visual programming platforms
  • A basic understanding of programming and computational thinking
  • Strong problem-solving and logical-thinking skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and patiently
  • A genuine interest in coding, technology, or education
  • Comfort leading and engaging groups of teenagers
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and an encouraging personality

  • Willingness to follow provided curriculum while bringing your own creativity

Teaching experience is a plus, but not required. Experience in coding, computer science, STEM programs, tutoring, mentoring, camps, or education is helpful.
