Sales and Operations Internship - Michigan
About Hajoca
Hajoca Corporation is the nation’s largest privately held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, industrial pipe-valve-fitting, and pool supplies. Founded in 1858, Hajoca operates more than 450 locations nationwide. What sets Hajoca apart is its decentralized business model, where each location, known as a Profit Center, is led by a manager who runs the business with an entrepreneurial mindset; managing strategy, financial performance, customer relationships, and local growth. With more than 165 years of success, Hajoca combines the strength of a national organization with the agility and customer focus of a locally operated business.
The Opportunity
Hajoca's Sales and Operations Internship is a paid, ten-week rotational summer internship that gives college students hands-on exposure to every aspect of running a Profit Center within Hajoca's wholesale distribution business. Interns begin in logistics and operations, gaining experience in shipping, receiving, deliveries, and warehouse management. They then transition to the sales side of the business, shadowing counter, inside, and outside sales professionals while working directly with customers and vendors.
Then, in the final four weeks, you will have the chance to work on a special project specifically designed to test and sharpen your operational, sales, and service skills. Under the mentorship and guidance of experienced professionals, you will tackle real-life challenges faced by industry experts, pushing your critical thinking abilities to new heights. This project will be assigned by the Profit Center manager, tailored to the unique needs of the team and location.
Through this immersive internship, you will get first-hand exposure to the daily operations of a Profit Center, enabling you to grasp the fundamentals of our industry from the ground up. Top-performing interns may receive an offer to join Hajoca's full-time Management Development Program upon graduation, creating a pathway to lead their own Profit Center in as little as four years.
What You’ll Gain
A real seat inside a Profit Center. In just ten weeks, you'll rotate through warehouse and counter operations and then into inside, counter, and outside sales — seeing how an entire location actually runs, not just one department of it.
An honest answer, not a guess. Direct time with customers, vendors, and the team gives you a firsthand read on whether a career in distribution, sales, or business leadership is genuinely the right fit for you.
A project that can help you shine. In your final four weeks, you'll take on a special project assigned by your Profit Center Manager and shaped around that location's real needs — a chance to show what you can do, not just observe.
Mentorship from people who've lived it. You'll work alongside a Profit Center Manager and experienced associates who can speak honestly to what the next few years of a career here actually look like.
