Consumer Underwriter-Recreational Finance, SPF (CONSU014710)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Consumer Credit Underwriter utilizes the consumer loan policy and underwriting tools to provide consumer underwriting decisions and communicate decisions with customers, upper management, and customer service representatives (collectively, consumer Originators). The Consumer Credit Underwriter underwrites loans that are specialty finance products concentrated in Marine, RV and Aviation collateral types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Underwrite and ensure the satisfactory and prompt delivery of all SPF consumer loan underwriting decisions by utilizing consumer loan decision software. This duty is performed daily.

2. Prepare underwriting worksheets and other spreadsheets designed to quantify complicated consumer borrowers personal and global cash flow. This duty is performed daily.

3. Communicate alternative financing options to Consumer Originators for consumer credit requests. This duty is performed daily.

4. Identify and communicate other pre-approved consumer products and services to SPF loan originators. This duty is performed daily.

5. Provide assistance in conducting training for Consumer Originators. This duty is performed as needed.

6. Conduct SPF consumer loan credit investigations. This duty is performed daily.

7. Participate in new SPF consumer loan product development and implementation. This duty is performed as needed.

8. Act as SPF administrator to maintain upgrades and changes to the consumer loan decision software. This duty is performed as needed.

9. Review and prepare loan denials for all denied SPF commercial and consumer real estate loans. This duty is performed daily.

10. Evaluate and review collateral surveys for recommendations, survey allowances and to ensure the condition of the collateral is in satisfactory condition. This duty is performed daily.

11. Analyze collateral to determine a value to ensure that loan to value ratios are in line with the loan amount and purchase price. This duty is performed daily.

12. Ensure proper compliance measures and actions are taken regarding all applicable regulatory laws and regulations, including Fair Credit, Reg. Z, and Reg B compliance. This duty is performed daily.

13. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily.

14. Complete required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed quarterly.

15. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four year college degree, plus 4 years related experience and/or training, and 19 to 23 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- Experience with marine and/or RV consumer loans (recreational loans)
- Experience using bank core systems.
