Position: Content Creator
FLSA Status: Part Time, Independent Contractor
Pay: $15.00/hour, billed hourly
Academic Credit Option: This position may also be completed for school/internship credit (in place of or in addition to hourly pay), for students who qualify through their academic institution.
Start Date: Rolling / open until filled
Birmingham Children’s Theatre is seeking a Content Creator to join our creative team. This role is primarily focused on producing engaging graphic, photo, and video content for BCT's social media channels, helping bring the BCT story to our audiences online.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create graphic, photo, and video content specifically for BCT's social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok
- Collaborate with the BCT team to brainstorm ideas and creative concepts
- Capture and publish ephemeral content during events for platforms such as Instagram Stories and Facebook Live (occasionally on nights and weekends)
- Create short promotional videos to support BCT productions
- Create and edit graphics for ads using Adobe Creative Cloud or similar editing software
- Collaborate with the creative team to brainstorm ideas and content concepts
- Help maintain brand standards, ensuring consistency and visual integrity across BCT's platforms
- Other duties as assigned by the Artistic Director
QUALIFICIATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Familiarity with social media platforms listed above, particularly content creation and best practices
- Interest and skill in photography and/or video capturing and editing, with an eye for composition
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign highly desired
- Creative, visual thinker able to generate ideas and see projects through from concept to completion
- Ability to troubleshoot, be solution-oriented, and take direction
- Flexible, can-do attitude and enjoyment of working collaboratively with a team
- Available during daytime hours – with flexible scheduling – on weekdays and Saturdays.
The Content Creator reports directly to the Artistic Director. An interest in theatre and working with children is a must. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background inquiry.
