Growth & Development Analyst Fall 2026

Help build the relationships, partnerships, and opportunities that fuel Appalachia Advisory's growth.

This is a part-time, volunteer opportunity with Appalachia Advisory, a chartered non-profit corporation connecting students and young professionals with underserved small businesses across Appalachia through pro bono consulting.

As a Growth & Development Analyst, you will contribute to initiatives that expand Appalachia Advisory's client pipeline, strategic partnerships, external network, and organizational capacity. Depending on organizational priorities and your interests, your work may span client sourcing, strategic partnerships, fundraising, network development, Board of Advisor initiatives, donor engagement, and other growth-focused projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and execute projects and materials that strengthen Appalachia Advisory’s external and internal relationships and support organizational growth.
  • Engage with prospective clients, partners, donors, advisors, and other stakeholders to expand Appalachia Advisory’s network and reach.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities that expand our client pipeline, partnerships, funding, and regional presence.
  • Develop and evaluate ideas for generating sustainable revenue and resources to support Appalachia Advisory’s long-term growth and impact.
  • Assist with Board of Advisor initiatives, including research, materials development, engagement opportunities, and meeting preparation.
  • Identify opportunities to expand, strengthen, and activate our network of clients, partners, advisors, and community organizations.
  • Collaborate with other Growth & Development Analysts and organizational leaders to execute high-priority initiatives.

Ideal candidates are curious, organized, and comfortable taking initiative. They should have an interest in business development, strategy, entrepreneurship, nonprofit leadership, community development, or relationship management, and be excited to work in an entrepreneurial environment where they can take ownership of meaningful projects.

We are specifically seeking individuals who are passionate about our mission, supporting small businesses, and advancing social impact initiatives that create meaningful change in marginalized communities.

Previous experience is not required. We value initiative, curiosity, communication, and a willingness to learn.

Appalachia Advisory is a chartered non-profit corporation in the State of Tennessee connecting students and young professionals from across the U.S. with small businesses throughout Appalachia.

Through ~8 week pro bono consulting engagements, our teams provide strategic support in areas such as marketing, strategy, operations, growth, and organizational enablement.

Our Growth & Strategy arm builds the relationships, partnerships, and organizational infrastructure that enable Appalachia Advisory to reach more businesses and deepen its impact across the region.

Our work is entirely pro bono for clients,  providing meaningful professional experience for our members while creating tangible value for underserved communities.

Schedule: Part-Time
Expected Time Commitment: Approximately 6–8 hours per week
Compensation: Unpaid

Recommended Candidate Background

School Year: Incoming Freshman, Sophomore, Junior 

Relevant Majors / Backgrounds:
Business Administration & Management, Consulting, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Business Analytics, Nonprofit Management, Public Policy, Communications, or related fields
