Business Research Intern

Are you a motivated business major eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and specialized financial services industry? Our company, a leader in delinquent government account collections and servicing for private investors in the tax lien space, is seeking a sharp and analytical Business Strategy Intern to join our team.

About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity to dive deep into the operational core of our business. You will be a key contributor to our collection strategy, using modern research techniques to help us optimize our approach with a diverse portfolio of small to medium-sized business accounts. This internship is designed to be a blend of strategic analysis, process improvement, and foundational business operations, offering a comprehensive view of our industry.

What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on small to medium-sized companies using a variety of online resources and AI-powered tools. You will analyze business operations, financial health, and market positioning to inform our collection strategies.
  • Recommendation & Reporting: Synthesize your research findings and present clear, actionable recommendations to senior team members on the most effective collection approaches for different business profiles.
  • System Development: Assist in designing, documenting, and implementing internal systems and processes to manage and streamline large volumes of business account information, contributing to our operational efficiency.
  • Operational Support: Approximately 10% of your time will be dedicated to essential clerical tasks, providing you with a well-rounded understanding of our end-to-end business processes.

What We're Looking For:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Approximately 10 hours or more of in-office work at our McLean, VA location.
  • A natural curiosity and strong analytical mindset with a passion for researching and understanding diverse business models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • A proactive, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with online research tools and a keen interest in leveraging new technologies, including AI, for business applications.
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism, and a desire to learn about the financial services and collections industry.
