Life Skills Instructor
SSC is seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, and reliable Life Skills Instructors to work with students of all ages and abilities.
Our instructors provide individualized and small-group instruction focused on developing practical, everyday, and creative skills. Classes are designed to help students build confidence, independence, social interaction, and real-world skills in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
Life Skills Instructors may teach one or more areas based on their skills and experience, including:
- Cooking and Baking
- Money Management
- Computer Skills and Typing
- Creative Arts
- Jewelry Making
- Crochet, Knitting, or Sewing
- Makeup Artistry
- Social and Communication Skills
- Daily Living and Independent Living Skills
- Yoga, Zumba, and other wellness activities
- Other practical or creative life skills
Responsibilities include:
- Providing engaging, hands-on instruction
- Working with students individually or in small groups
- Adapting lessons based on each student's abilities and learning needs
- Preparing lesson plans and class materials
- Documenting student progress and completing required lesson notes
- Maintaining a positive, professional, and supportive learning environment
- Communicating professionally with the Smart Start Centers team
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have experience teaching, coaching, instructing, or working with students
- Have a particular skill, talent, certification, education, or professional experience they can teach
- Are patient, reliable, creative, and enthusiastic
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Are comfortable working one-on-one and with small groups
- Can adapt instruction to different learning styles and abilities
Students, recent graduates, educators, artists, fitness instructors, culinary professionals, and individuals with relevant hands-on experience are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling based on instructor availability and student needs. Opportunities may be available on weekdays and weekends.
