NANOV DISPLAY INC. is seeking motivated college seniors, recent engineering graduates, and early-career engineers to join our technical team as an Assistant Engineer – Mechanical, Electrical & IT Systems.

This is a hands-on, multidisciplinary engineering position designed for candidates interested in working beyond a traditional single-discipline engineering role. The Assistant Engineer will participate in the design, integration, deployment, testing, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance of outdoor real-time passenger information displays, digital kiosks, and Smart City systems.

The position combines mechanical and electrical engineering, IT/networking, field engineering, systems integration, product development, technical documentation, preventive maintenance, logistics, and project coordination.

You will work directly with NANOV management, engineers, manufacturers, technology partners, contractors, field technicians, and public transit agencies while gaining experience across the complete technology project lifecycle:

Position Responsibilities

The Assistant Engineer will support both engineering operations and field deployment activities. Responsibilities will expand as the employee develops technical knowledge and demonstrates the ability to work independently.

Mechanical Engineering & Product Development

  • Assist with the mechanical design and development of outdoor digital signage enclosures, kiosks, mounting systems, brackets, access panels, and internal component layouts.
  • Prepare and update AutoCAD drawings, 3D renderings, mechanical layouts, assembly drawings, and installation details.
  • Assist with equipment selection and integration for outdoor environmental conditions.
  • Support product improvements involving weather resistance, thermal management, ventilation, structural integrity, serviceability, and vandal resistance.
  • Review dimensional requirements, mounting conditions, foundations, field measurements, and installation constraints.
  • Coordinate prototype development and product modifications with manufacturers and fabrication partners.
  • Assist with preparation of Bills of Materials (BOM), component lists, technical specifications, and assembly documentation.
  • Participate in prototype assembly, inspection, testing, and design verification.

Electrical Engineering & Systems Integration

  • Assist with electrical design and integration of outdoor digital signage and kiosk systems.
  • Prepare and maintain electrical wiring diagrams, block diagrams, system architecture diagrams, and component layouts.
  • Support integration of AC/DC power systems, power supplies, circuit protection, controllers, displays, computers, sensors, communication equipment, and related components.
  • Assist with electrical load calculations and component selection.
  • Support wiring, cabling, grounding, power distribution, and communications integration.
  • Participate in equipment assembly, system configuration, quality-control testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist engineering teams with preparation of technical documentation supporting applicable product and project requirements.

IT, Networking & Cybersecurity Support

  • Configure and troubleshoot Windows-based industrial computers, digital signage players, routers, cellular modems, Ethernet networks, and connected IoT devices.
  • Assist with LAN/WAN, cellular, Wi-Fi, VPN, and remote-access configurations.
  • Support IP addressing, device connectivity, network troubleshooting, and communications testing.
  • AWS CloudFormation/Terraform, AWS Bedrock configuration, Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring tools (Datadog, Cloudwatch) 
  • Support remote monitoring platforms and IoT-based system health monitoring.
  • Diagnose connectivity, hardware, software, and communications issues in coordination with internal engineering teams and customer IT departments.
  • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, network information, equipment, and technical changes.

Field Engineering, Preventive Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Perform and coordinate field inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and equipment replacement.
  • Support NANOV's deployed systems at transit, municipal, healthcare, and commercial locations.
  • Assist with field service activities for projects including Jackson Health System, Broward County Transit, Bayside Marketplace, Jersey City, and other NANOV deployments.
  • Diagnose failures involving displays, computers, power systems, networking equipment, sensors, wiring, and related components.
  • Document service activities through photographs, inspection reports, repair logs, test results, and maintenance records.
  • Coordinate field activities with transit agencies, facility managers, contractors, electricians, and subcontractors.
  • Assist with spare-parts management and preparation of replacement equipment.
  • Participate in system upgrades and lifecycle retrofit programs.

Installation, Testing & Commissioning

  • Support site surveys and document existing electrical, communications, structural, and installation conditions.
  • Review construction drawings and installation requirements before deployment.
  • Assist with equipment installation, system startup, configuration, and field testing.
  • Conduct functional testing of displays, computers, communications equipment, sensors, and peripheral devices.
  • Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), as applicable.
  • Prepare testing records, commissioning reports, punch lists, and corrective-action documentation.
  • Support final project closeout and turnover documentation.

Project Coordination & Technical Documentation

  • Assist Project Managers with active public transit and Smart City projects.
  • Prepare project schedules, engineering reports, progress reports, meeting notes, technical manuals, installation procedures, and maintenance documentation.
  • Prepare technical Scopes of Work (SOW) for field technicians and subcontractors.
  • Maintain organized project drawings, specifications, submittals, manuals, equipment records, and correspondence.
  • Track project milestones, engineering action items, technical issues, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation, including AutoCAD drawings, 3D renderings, system diagrams, wiring diagrams, equipment schedules, test reports, and O&M manuals.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and technology partners.

Government RFP & Engineering Proposal Support

  • Review technical requirements contained in public transit, municipal, state, and federal RFPs.
  • Identify engineering requirements, product specifications, testing requirements, deliverables, and technical compliance criteria.
  • Assist with preparation of technical proposals, compliance matrices, system descriptions, equipment specifications, drawings, and project approaches.
  • Research components, technologies, engineering alternatives, and product solutions.
  • Coordinate technical information with engineering teams, manufacturers, vendors, subcontractors, and technology partners.
  • Use approved AI-assisted research and productivity tools to support technical research, documentation, and engineering workflows.

Logistics, Inventory & Engineering Operations

Because NANOV operates as a systems integrator, Assistant Engineers will also gain practical experience in the physical movement and management of technology equipment.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Receiving and inspecting engineering components and equipment.
  • Maintaining technical inventory and spare-parts records.
  • Preparing equipment for field deployment.
  • Coordinating shipment of replacement parts and field-service equipment.
  • Supporting warehouse organization and engineering work areas.
  • Verifying equipment model numbers, serial numbers, quantities, and project assignments.
  • Coordinating RMA, repair, and replacement activities with manufacturers and vendors.
