WordPress Security Intern
WordPress Security & Web Development Intern
Hemmy Productions LLC
Internship | Part-time | Remote
Project-based opportunity
About the Opportunity
What if your next portfolio project wasn't a classroom exercise—but a real website security and recovery project for an independent film production company?
Hemmy Productions is looking for a technically curious WordPress Security & Web Development Intern to help us investigate, document, and strengthen one of our production websites.
Our website for the feature film For Love of the American Dream recently underwent a full WordPress restoration following a security incident. We are now looking for an intern who wants hands-on experience investigating why a security problem may have returned and helping us develop a stronger process for restoring and protecting the site.
This is not a routine website-maintenance internship.
You will have the opportunity to work on a defined technical project involving WordPress security, website investigation, documentation, troubleshooting, and web development.
What You Would Work On
You would help us investigate the current condition of the website and develop a WordPress Security Recovery & Hardening Plan.
Depending on your experience, your project may include:
- Reviewing WordPress plugins, themes, users, and configuration for potential security concerns
- Reviewing available Wordfence, Sucuri, hosting, and WordPress security information
- Investigating suspicious files, changes, errors, or other indicators identified during the review
- Comparing the current installation with known-good website backups when appropriate
- Helping identify possible causes of a recurring WordPress security issue
- Documenting findings in a clear technical report
- Developing recommendations for a secure restoration and maintenance process
- Helping establish a practical WordPress security checklist for future website maintenance
- Assisting with website updates, testing, and basic WordPress development as appropriate
Important: This is an investigative and educational internship. You will not be expected to independently handle a live security incident or make production changes without appropriate supervision.
What You Can Build for Your Portfolio
We want you to leave this project with something meaningful to show for your work.
A successful project can give you experience documenting a real-world technical problem from:
Investigation → Findings → Recommendations → Recovery → Prevention
With appropriate confidentiality and company approval, we can provide documentation of your project contributions that you can reference in your résumé or professional portfolio.
You will also gain experience working with a real organization rather than completing a simulated classroom assignment.

Why Hemmy Productions?
Hemmy Productions is an independent film production company developing feature films, television projects, and other entertainment properties.
You will be working at the intersection of technology, digital media, and entertainment, while gaining experience solving a real business problem.
This project can be particularly valuable for students who want their first meaningful experience in WordPress security, web development, cybersecurity, or technical project work.
Internship Structure
This is a part-time, project-based internship designed to work alongside a student's academic schedule.
The initial project will focus on the security investigation and recovery of the For Love of the American Dream website. Depending on the intern's interests and performance, additional website development and security projects may become available.
Because Hemmy Productions is currently in the development and financing stage, this is an unpaid internship at this time. We are transparent about that from the beginning.
The value of the opportunity is the hands-on project experience, professional portfolio development, exposure to an operating entertainment company, and the opportunity to build a relationship with the company as it grows.
How to Apply
Please submit:
- Your résumé
- A brief cover letter explaining your interest in the project
- Any relevant website, GitHub, portfolio, cybersecurity, WordPress, or other technical work you would like us to review
In your cover letter, please tell us about one technical problem you have investigated or solved and how you approached it.
We are more interested in how you think than in whether you already know every tool.
Come help us figure out why the problem came back—and build a better way to keep it from coming back again.
