About the Role

We are looking for a curious, resourceful, and execution-oriented Software Engineering Intern to help build technology that supports Oaklin Lane’s children, families, clinicians, and operating teams.

You will work on real software projects, from identifying requirements and designing solutions to writing, testing, and deploying code. Projects may include patient and family experiences, clinician workflows, internal operating tools, data integrations, automation, and digital products for The Pediatric Collective.

This is not an observational internship. You will take ownership of meaningful projects, collaborate with technical and nontechnical teams, and help build systems that can scale across a national pediatric healthcare organization.

What You’ll Do

Depending on your interests and experience, projects may include:

Building and improving internal web applications and operating tools

Developing digital experiences for patients, families, clinicians, or The Pediatric Collective

Creating integrations between clinical, operational, and business systems

Automating repetitive workflows and manual processes

Designing and working with APIs, databases, and data pipelines

Translating business and user needs into technical requirements

Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code

Testing, debugging, and improving the reliability of software

Evaluating new technologies, development tools, and software platforms

Collaborating with product, operations, clinical, analytics, and leadership teams

Monitoring product performance and incorporating user feedback

Presenting technical solutions and recommendations to company leadership

Who Should Apply

Strong self-taught developers and students from other academic backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

Prior healthcare experience is not required. We care more about technical ability, curiosity, initiative, and a genuine interest in using technology to solve meaningful problems.

Strong candidates will be:

Comfortable programming in at least one modern language

Familiar with software-development fundamentals

Resourceful and able to learn new technologies quickly

Thoughtful about user experience, reliability, privacy, and security

Strong problem solvers and clear communicators

Comfortable working independently in a remote environment

Proactive, dependable, and eager to take ownership

Experience with web development, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, automation, or AI-assisted development is helpful but not required.
