Office Technician Typing
The Emissions Certification and Compliance Division, whose efforts have dramatically improved air quality in California and nationwide, are seeking a motivated, organized and skilled Office Technician (Typing) to play a critical role in providing varied support to the branch chiefs, managers, engineers, scientists, technicians and field representatives as a team member in the Emissions Certification and Compliance Administrative Section. Under the general supervision of the Section's manager, the incumbent, receives and screens incoming telephone calls and visitors; exercises considerable judgment in providing factual/technical information in response to inquiries; reviews and prioritizes incoming correspondence to determine disposition and routing; schedule meetings, edits all correspondence and documents for Branch Chief signature, and routes to the Division Office when necessary; provides secretarial support to Section Managers and staff of the Branches; ensures staff work meets proper format, organization, grammar usage, completeness of content and conformance to Executive Office/Board procedural standards. The office technician also assists with budgetary issues for the Branches; establishes office procedures and updates them as needed. Independently prioritizes workload in accordance with public hearings, workshops and other critical events; tracks and follow-ups on Branches assignments to ensure deadlines are met; coordinates travel and meeting arrangements; reviews travel claims for accuracy and completeness; assists with interview and hiring procedures of new employees; assists technical staff in preparing Board Hearing staff reports and related documentation, ensuring accuracy with formatting and layout; and assists in preparing other Division documents. The Office Technician will also routinely use Microsoft Office Programs (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Teams, and more), and Adobe Acrobat Professional, among other technology options, to complete all daily assignments.

Working Conditions
This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resources Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required.
The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.
Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.
