Youth Leader – Expanded Learning Program
Classified Temporary – hourly position

$21.80 - $31.20 (DOE)
2:15pm - 6:15pm (Monday - Friday)
BASIC FUNCTION
Under general direction of the afterschool program administrator and program assistant to plan and implement a specialized program of education and enrichment which relates but is not limited to subjects such as art, music, science, and homework support.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
• Provide supervision and specialized instruction and enrichment activities in and out of classrooms
• Plan, provide and direct student with enrichment lessons and activities relating to a specific subject area or area of visual and performing arts
• Prepare classroom for activities
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Use relevant technology to support instruction
• Manage student behavior and enforce rules and procedures
• Record accurate daily attendance
OTHER DUTIES
Performs related duties similar to the above in scope and function as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
• Fundamentals, principles, and theory of the specialized subject;
• Appropriate instructional methodology;
Ability to:
• Manage a class of elementary aged students;
• Instruct students in concepts under direction of program administrator and program assistant;
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, families and team members;
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED. Any combination of training, education and experience, which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience working with student groups.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Must be fluent in English. Bilingual fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: TB test clearance required. State law requires that applicants selected for this position must complete a fingerprint process to check for or verify a conviction record. Current CPR and First Aid Care for Children certification.
