Through our Student-Teaching-Student model, internships, workforce development programs, and community partnerships, students have opportunities to develop professional skills while contributing to programs that make a positive impact in their communities.
Position Overview
One World Quest is seeking a motivated Nonprofit Management & Grant Development Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in grant research, grant development, nonprofit management, program development, and organizational sustainability.
A significant focus of this internship will be helping students understand the grant lifecycle—from identifying funding opportunities and researching foundations to supporting grant proposals, organizing required information, and learning how nonprofit organizations use grants to fund programs and advance their missions.
This is an entry-level learning opportunity, and previous grant writing or nonprofit experience is not required. Students will receive guidance and supervision while working on real-world grant development and nonprofit projects.
This position is ideal for students interested in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, organizational leadership, community development, fundraising, social impact, or related fields.
Responsibilities
The Nonprofit Management & Grant Development Intern may assist with:
- Researching potential foundation, corporate, government, and community grant opportunities.
- Identifying grants that align with One World Quest programs and organizational priorities.
- Maintaining and organizing a database or tracking system of potential funding opportunities and deadlines.
- Reviewing grant guidelines, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and required documentation.
- Assisting with gathering organizational information needed for grant applications.
- Supporting the development of grant proposals, narratives, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials.
- Conducting research to support statements of need, program descriptions, and grant proposals.
- Assisting with organizing program goals, outcomes, impact information, and supporting data.
- Helping maintain grant calendars and track upcoming application and reporting deadlines.
- Learning how grant budgets connect to proposed programs and organizational needs.
- Assisting with research on foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other potential funders.
- Supporting basic grant reporting and documentation when appropriate.
- Assisting with nonprofit program planning and development.
- Participating in grant strategy, program development, and organizational planning meetings when appropriate.
- Supporting other nonprofit development projects based on the student's interests and learning goals.
Interns will not be expected to independently secure funding, submit grant applications, manage grant funds, or make organizational or financial decisions. Grant activities will be completed with appropriate supervision and guidance.
Qualifications
We are looking for students who:
- Are currently enrolled in a college or university program.
- Have an interest in grants, nonprofit management, public administration, business, fundraising, leadership, or community development.
- Have strong written communication and basic research skills.
- Are organized and attentive to detail.
- Are comfortable conducting online research and reviewing written information.
- Are dependable and able to manage basic assignments and deadlines.
- Have an interest in learning how nonprofit organizations obtain and manage funding.
- Are willing to learn, receive feedback, and work collaboratively.
Previous grant writing or nonprofit experience is not required.

Academic Credit & Federal Work-Study
Students may have the opportunity to receive academic credit hours for their internship experience depending on their academic department, major, university requirements, and approval.
One World Quest will work with the student and appropriate university representatives when applicable.
Eligible students may also have the opportunity to participate through Federal Work-Study, subject to university approval, student eligibility, and available funding.

Through this internship, students will gain practical experience in one of the most important areas of nonprofit management: finding resources and developing funding opportunities that allow organizations to grow their programs and increase their community impact.
Students should leave with stronger research, writing, communication, leadership, and nonprofit management skills—and meaningful grant development experience that strengthens their resume and prepares them for careers in nonprofit management, public administration, fundraising, grant development, and related fields.
