Children's Ministry Assistant

ROSEVILLE COVENANT CHURCH POSITION DESCRIPTION

AUGUST 2026

Job Title: Children’s Ministry Assistant

Accountable to: Children’s Ministry Director

Purpose:  The Children’s Ministry Assistant will work with the Children’s Ministry Director to create a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment where children and families can grow in their faith.  This position will provide administrative support, classroom preparation, volunteer coordination, and assistance with ministry events.  

Hours Expected:  10 hours per week.  Flexible schedule with regular Sunday morning and Wednesday evening hours. 

Position  Responsibilities

  • Ministry Preparation
    • Prepare classroom supplies for weekly programming
    • Organize crafts, games, and lesson materials for weekly events such as Sunday morning Kidjam and Wednesday night KidConnect
    • Take on development and upkeep for toddler activity bags for toddlers and babies that choose to remain in the worship service.  
    • Ensure classroom readiness for shared spaces 
    • Help support vision and direction for Children’s Ministry in cooperation with the Children and Family Ministry Director
  • Ministry Facilitation
    • Plan and Facilitate two Sunday morning KidJam Sessions per month 
    • Assist with Wednesday night KidConnect on occasion
    • Assist with seasonal events including Vacation Bible School, Holiday Programs, Parent gatherings, Special Outreach opportunities
  • Administrative Support
    • Print and Prepare ministry materials
    • Prepare and facilitate sign in and sign out materials
    • Help with family mailings
  • Volunteer Support 
    • Welcome and assist volunteers
    • Help recruit and encourage volunteers
    • Assist with volunteer appreciation efforts
  • Family Connections 
    • Welcome new families in a friendly manner 
    • Facilitate and assist with check-in and check-out
    • Help communicate upcoming events

Qualifications

  • Have a mature and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 
  • Support the mission and values of Roseville Covenant Church.
  • Love working with children and families. 
  • Be dependable and self-motivated.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Work well independently and as part of a team. 
  • Successfully complete a background check and ministry safe training. 
  • Embody the following qualities-warm and welcoming, flexible, detail oriented, creative, encouraging, teachable, good communicator, servant hearted

Expectations

  • Abides by all RCC policies and procedures applicable to overall children’s ministry.  
  • Recognizes and abides by the Relational Covenant set for by RCC
  • Communicates politely, friendly and courteously to all children, parents, and volunteers.  
  • Arrives on time for all shifts
  • Communicates absences with the Children’s Ministry Director with as much advance notice as possible (Dependability is essential. Tardiness and excessive unscheduled absences may result in termination of employment.)
  • Timely completes and submits timesheet to Business Administrator for payroll according to schedule

 

Compensation
