The Teen Feed Dinner Program Manager (DPM) will join our management team as part-time staff member who is an energetic, passionate leader with a small nonprofit organization focused on serving homeless and food insecure youth ages 13-25 in the University District of Seattle. The Dinner Program Manager models consistency, tenacity, compassion, and kindness. They are well organized, have a passion for racial equity and systemic change and embrace gender diversity. They champion a strong social justice roadmap, practice personal boundaries and have a compassionate nature. The best candidate is supportive of operations at the Teen Feed nightly Dinner Program; a mission-driven, trustworthy individual who provides oversight for approximately ten part-time Engagement Coordinators, as well as on-site (volunteer) Advocates, Allies (under 18), and interns/practicum students.
They are a key member of the management team and ensure the positive engagement, agency, equality, consistency and safety of our nightly meal guests as they seek respite from the streets. Successful candidates will be a superstar at balancing administrative and on-site work, and recognize the strong work ethic required for the social justice field and want to be a voice of change on a constructive, no-drama team.
A strong preference is given to racially diverse candidates who reflect the demographic of our youth. This position is 99% in-person, with ability to work periodic evenings, weekends, and holidays also in-person required. The Dinner Program Manager reports to the Teen Feed Executive Director (ED), is part-time at 20 hours per week, non-exempt. Annual salary is $31,200 or $30 per hour. Benefits include an IRA account with a 2% annual contribution from Teen Feed, and standard PTO + sick time accrual.

Job Duties and Responsibilities - Dinner Program Manager (DPM)
The DPM manages the Teen Feed Dinner Program, with an emphasis on staff training, youth guest supervision, and in-person support of the nightly volunteers. The DPM leads the follow-through of SOP systems creation, management, training curriculum support, and general on-site supervision support (staff, volunteers, guests).
This position spends 90% time in daily dinner program operations and coordination management, and 10% of their time on administrative work (scheduling, meetings, internal correspondence, external correspondence, training curriculum development).
The Dinner Program Manager is responsible for the execution of a mission-driven and collaborative Teen Feed program design providing engagement, and is a strong, creative and mature voice welcoming guest diversity and building community.
Operations, Facilities, and Supervision [ON SITE] (90%)
Operations & Facilities
- Works as a leader at our nightly dinner program (leading our Engagement Coordinator team) at least 4 (four) nights weekly, 365 days yearly and owns all Teen Feed Engagement Coordinator operations and SOPs, including set-up, check-in, Dinner preparation, serving, clean up, and de-brief for on-site meals.
- Leads by example: in pre-Dinner meetings with Advocates and Allies, post-Dinner program debrief logging vital client information (i.e. referrals, community updates, guidance to volunteers and staff, new bars, overall tenor of the evening, any particular youth to note).
- Reliably ensures processes of operational integrity/SOPs on behalf of the organization including: kitchen cleanliness and maintenance (sweeping, mopping, garbage), status of host-site appliances, communication to Teen Feed operations staff on behalf of Dinner Team needs, basic needs communications.
- Responsible for daily integrity of host sites (University Congregational United Church of Christ).
- Owns SOPs: the unlock, closure and nightly checklists of host facilities, including minimum of 4 nights weekly onsite presence, facility oversight such as graffiti removal.
- Assists the ED + Kitchen Manager as point of contact for host site communication.
- Enforces the age limit of 13-25, contributes to referrals or services, and acts as a bridge to SLY and STOP programs and partner agency case management programs.
- Familiarity or willingness to be trained in harm-reduction, conflict de-escalation, anti-oppression, CPR, food-handler's permit. Brings training opportunities and resources to Dinner Staff and volunteers.
- Collaborates with STOP (Street Talk Outreach Program) and SLY (Service Links) programs
- Collaborates with Volunteer Services Manager to communicate volunteer needs for program, and outcome needs for group service events related to facilities maintenance and basic needs supplies organization.
- Directly collaborates with Kitchen Manager to ensure continuing to follow agreed cleaning schedules, and following up on any recurrent overlooked cleaning through training or communications.
- Relays on-site volunteer needs, guest food preferences, and inventory needs (basic needs items, food/drink donation needs) to VSM, Kitchen Manager, and SLY Manager as necessary
Staff & Volunteer Supervision
- Serves as site coordinator and supervisor to ~10 part-time Engagement Coordinators(EC), as well as 1-5 annual interns and practicum students.
- The DPM is the primary staff for the on call system and first to fill EC staff vacancies.
- Schedules and carries out regular one-on-one check-in meetings with all supervisees, one-on-one meetings on a regular basis.
- Supervises PTO of EC team in collaboration with ED
- Regularly attends professional development, training, and connects the Engagement Coordinator team to professional development and training opportunities.
- Assists in tracking attendance of volunteer Advocates, Allies and nightly Dinner Teams, relaying no-shows to VSM + KM accordingly
- Check-in with on-site volunteers regularly at Dinner Program
- Gives feedback to VSM/KM when onboarding new dinner Advocates, Allies, Kitchen Leads, meal teams, and interns
- Utilizes Remote Training Site to support Teen Feed operations, training, and SOPs in partnerships with the VSM + KC
- Curriculum development and training: co-facilitates and manages on-site training curriculum development, scheduling, communication, and facilitation to train up all on-site staff and volunteers on a recurring basis, in collaboration with VSM
- Connect Teen Feed with outside resources to perpetually increase diversity in recruitment of volunteers, staff and donors
- Engagement Coordinator Hiring Manager: partners with AD + staff to interview and train Engagement Coordinator applicants.
- Acts as an ambassador for Teen Feed in volunteer recruitment and retention and coordinated efforts to support volunteers as key staff members with a commitment to hiring a diverse and intelligent workforce representative of the youth we serve.
Administration [ON SITE OR REMOTE] (10%)
- Creates monthly Google Sheet Engagement Coordinator schedule - sends out by mid-month at the latest for the upcoming month
- Point person for Teen Feed Meal Phone (voicemail and cloud backups), the Dinner Program documentation updates (ex: dinner binder), and all location keys
- Participates in organization, distribution and returns of all client mail.
- Owns the Teen Feed CRM Salesforce system for the dinner coordinator teams including key relational tracking data for clients and donors. Trains Dinner Staff on Salesforce system and its importance.
- Collaborates with Volunteer Services Manager on pop-up training design, on-going training of volunteers and Engagement Coordinators, and cross-training of interns and staff. Contributes to revisions to Cultural Script with a lens of racial equity.
- Attends Teen Feed staff meetings and retreats and contributes to organizational planning and long-term goals.
- Leads monthly Engagement Coordinator meetings.
- Fosters good will and removes barriers to collaboration among all programs. As appropriate, represents Teen Feed at meetings designated by ED and SLY Manager to network, recruit for volunteer diversity, and to support Core Values of Teen Feed
- Regularly brings concerns of their program forward and represents it with the Management Team
- Contributes to Teen Feed’s Dinner program site contractual agreements with all host locations, on-site partnerships, policies, Annual Performance Evaluations of Engagement Coordinators and exit interviews.
- Manages budget tracking for payroll of EC staff, and dinner-related purchases, including funds spent on Basic Needs Items and gift cards for youth guests – maintains a program checkbook that tracks spending and forecasting in collaboration with Teen Feed Executive Director.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required - experience considered equally
- Valid Washington State driver’s license - required to fulfill job duties
- Ability to obtain Washington State Food Worker card - required
- Ability to pass Washington State Background Check - required
- Ability to lift/carry 40+ pounds regularly
- Ability to sit/stand as needed, ability to stand/walk for 4+ hours frequently
- Stairs required, carrying 40+ lbs up/down stairs somewhat frequently
- Ability to work periodic evenings, weekends, and holidays in-person
- Demonstrates cultural competence in social service systems and behavioral issues pertinent to the housing-insecure youth community or willingness to learn.
- Ability to perform all services in a culturally respectful manner, honoring homeless individuals in agreement with Teen Feed Core Values
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills needed, organizational, writing, and language skills helpful in position success
- Proficient in Google Suite + MS Office Suite
