Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that promote literacy, math, physical activity, and social-emotional skills
- Create a welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and independence
- Manage daily classroom activities, ensuring smooth transitions between lessons and routines
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones
- Apply effective behavior management strategies to support positive social interactions among children
- Incorporate child development principles and early intervention techniques to support diverse learning needs
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, assessments, and incident reports in compliance with mandated reporting laws
- Ensure safety by adhering to health guidelines, including first aid and CPR procedures
- Must have twelve (12) semester units in Early Childhood Education or a related field such as recreation, physical education, or units earned toward an elementary teaching credential.
Skills
- Extensive experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings
- Strong knowledge of childhood development stages and early childhood education best practices
- Proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively with young children, parents, colleagues, and administrators
- Experience with special education needs and implementing individualized support plans
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies and child welfare protocols
- Familiarity with standardized testing methods used in early childhood education settings
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional credentials in early intervention or special education are a plus
- Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Skills in teaching physical education activities, literacy education, math concepts, and toddler care
