Senate Fellowship Program
Learn the legislative process and work on current policy issues by serving directly in the capitol office of California State Senator or Senate Policy Committee!
Fellows perform the duties of a legislative aide, such as:
- Staffing bills through the legislative process, conducting policy analysis,
and making vote recommendations - Writing speeches, talking points, and press releases
- Staffing the Member at meetings and events and working with constituents, lobbyists, and advocacy groups
DETAILS
One of four nationally recognized Capital Fellows Programs, The Senate Fellowship Program is one of the most distinguished experiential learning programs in the nation. The program offers aspiring public servants of diverse backgrounds and experiences the unique opportunity to directly shape public policy. *The program is bipartisan and places Fellows in offices of their political party.
LOCATION and PAY
- Full-time
- $4,888/month and health, vision, and dental benefits
- Sacramento, CA
ELIGIBILITY
- Be at least 20 years of age by September 1 of the fellowship year
- Bachelor’s degree by September 1 of the fellowship year and
either a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher or a GPA of 2.5 or
higher in the last 60 (semester) or 90 (quarter) units - Demonstrated interest in state government and public policy
- Authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the
fellowship program

- Statement of Interest
- Policy Statement
- Resume
- College transcript(s)
- A list of three individuals who will write letters of recommendation
Recommenders must submit letters of recommendation by the deadline of Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST)
