Business Development Intern

Business Development Intern — Rainbow Secure

Paid Internship - Fall Semester - Application Closes 08/25/2026 | $20/hour | 20 hours/week | 10 weeks | Hybrid — Old Bridge, NJ

Rainbow Secure is a cybersecurity company providing patented multi-dimensional identity authentication solutions, including MFA, Passwordless, SSO, IAM, PAM, and identity threat protection.

We are looking for a motivated Business Development Intern who wants hands-on experience in B2B sales, prospecting, customer outreach, and cybersecurity.

This is a front-line sales and business development role — not a shadowing internship. You will work directly with our leadership team while taking ownership of prospect research, outreach, follow-up, and meeting generation.

What You'll Do

Research and identify small and mid-sized businesses that fit Rainbow Secure's target customer profile.

Identify business owners, IT leaders, security leaders, compliance professionals, and other decision-makers.

Build and maintain prospect lists.

Conduct outreach through email, LinkedIn, and phone calls.

Follow up consistently with prospects and develop new business conversations.

Qualify prospects based on business need, decision-making authority, timing, and potential fit.

Schedule qualified meetings and product demonstrations for the Rainbow Secure leadership team.

Maintain accurate prospect, activity, and follow-up information in the CRM.

Prepare basic prospect research and briefing notes before meetings.

Follow up with prospects after meetings and help nurture future opportunities.

Track outreach results and identify which industries, messages, and approaches generate the best responses.

Support webinars, events, local business outreach, and other sales and marketing campaigns.

What We're Looking For

Priority Candidates

First priority will be given to candidates with one or both of the following:

Undergraduate students studying Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Business, Communications, or a closely related program.

Candidates with previous sales or business development experience, including internships, campus sales, customer acquisition, fundraising, retail, hospitality, customer service, or other roles involving prospect or customer conversations.

Candidates who have both relevant academic study and previous sales experience will receive strongest consideration.

We are also looking for someone who is:

Comfortable speaking with new people and making outbound calls.

Able to write professional and personalized emails and LinkedIn messages.

Organized, accountable, and able to work independently.

Self-motivated and comfortable working toward measurable sales goals.

Persistent and able to handle rejection professionally.

Curious and willing to learn cybersecurity and identity security.

Available during U.S. Eastern business hours.

Able to commit approximately 20 hours per week.

No cybersecurity background is required. We will provide product and market training.

Internship Eligibility

Applicants must live in New Jersey and attend or have recently graduated from a New Jersey college or university.

Eligible applicants include:

Undergraduate students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year.

Master's/graduate students.

Recent graduates who completed an undergraduate or master's degree at a New Jersey institution during the current year.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Performance Expectations

This is a results-oriented business development internship. The intern will be expected to progressively build toward a full outreach and meeting-generation pace.

Key activities include:

Building qualified prospect lists.

Conducting consistent phone, email, and LinkedIn outreach.

Maintaining accurate CRM records.

Generating qualified meetings and product demonstrations.

Reporting weekly sales activity and pipeline progress.

Strong performers may be considered for an internship extension or future full-time sales/business development opportunity with Rainbow Secure.
