AutoCAD Draftsman

S&S Refrigeration Co. is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented AutoCAD Draftsman to join our team. This position will be responsible for preparing 2D CAD drawings for construction projects, including sales drawings, approval drawings, shop drawings, and field construction drawings.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working closely with Project Managers to turn project information into accurate, easy-to-understand drawings.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise 2D drawings using AutoCAD for commercial construction and refrigeration projects.
• Prepare sales drawings, shop drawings, and field construction drawings.
• Review project approval drawings and verify important information, including:
  • Doors and openings
  • Wall dimensions and locations
  • Refrigeration equipment
  • Equipment locations and clearances
  • Other construction-related details
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers to ensure drawings accurately reflect project requirements.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, and potential conflicts before they are issued for construction.
• Make revisions based on project changes, field conditions, and Project Manager feedback.
• Organize and maintain drawing files and project documentation.
• Work on a variety of unique commercial construction and refrigeration projects.
• Occasionally answer incoming phone calls and take messages for office staff when needed.
• Perform other drafting and office-related duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Proficient in AutoCAD and comfortable creating and modifying 2D drawings.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including:
  • Word
  • Excel
  • Outlook
• Proficient with Google Workspace, including:
  • Google Sheets
  • Gmail
  • Google Drive
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
• Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with Project Managers and other members of the team.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Ability to work in feet & inches (add, subtract, divide, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with construction drafting.
• Knowledge of HVAC/refrigeration or general construction.
• Basic understanding of construction methods and terminology.
• Experience working with shop drawings or construction documents.

Construction experience is beneficial but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who has strong AutoCAD skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
