A Space For Us Counseling is a holistic, trauma-informed mental health practice committed to creating a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive environment where clients can heal, grow, and feel seen.
Our approach recognizes the connection between the mind, body, nervous system, relationships, identity, culture, spirituality, and lived experience. We integrate evidence-based and holistic approaches, including trauma-focused care, mindfulness, neuroscience-informed interventions, somatic principles, and person-centered therapy.
Our practice has a particular commitment to providing culturally responsive mental health care to African American clients and individuals navigating trauma, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and other emotional concerns.
Position Overview
A Space For Us Counseling is seeking a compassionate, motivated Mental Health Therapist to join our growing practice.
This opportunity is well suited for a developing or early-career clinician who wants to strengthen their clinical skills while working in a supportive, trauma-informed private-practice environment.
The therapist will provide individualized mental health services while developing strong therapeutic relationships and helping clients work toward meaningful, sustainable change.
Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical intake assessments and identify client needs
- Develop individualized, strengths-based treatment plans
- Provide individual and/or couples psychotherapy based on experience and competency
- Provide culturally responsive and trauma-informed care
- Support clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, life transitions, and related challenges
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Monitor client progress and update treatment goals as clinically appropriate
- Collaborate with supervisors and other professionals regarding client care when appropriate
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with professional, ethical, and legal standards
- Participate in clinical supervision, consultation, training, and professional development
- Maintain a professional and compassionate therapeutic environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field
- Eligible to practice mental health services in New Jersey under the appropriate professional credential
- Accepted Credentials: LSW, LAC, LPC, LMFT, LAMFT...
- Interest in trauma-informed and culturally responsive mental health care
- Strong interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Strong organizational and clinical documentation skills
- Commitment to continued learning and professional development
- Interest in holistic, neuroscience-informed, mindfulness-based, or somatic approaches is a plus
Recent graduates and early-career clinicians who meet New Jersey credentialing requirements are encouraged to apply.
