The Development & Community Engagement Internship is a structured experiential learning opportunity that provides students with hands-on experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, community partnerships, donor stewardship, event planning, and organizational communications.

Because relationship-building and fundraising occur over time, this internship is designed as a progressive experience that may extend beyond 50 hours through consecutive internship placements. Each 50-hour segment introduces new responsibilities, increasing levels of ownership, and measurable learning outcomes.

Working alongside the Senior Director of Development & Community Engagement, the intern will contribute to projects that support Visible Men Academy’s mission while developing professional skills applicable to careers in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public relations, business development, and community engagement.

Responsibilities & Work Activities

The intern may be responsible for:

* Drafting professional emails and partnership communications.

* Supporting fundraising/enrollment campaigns and donor stewardship efforts.

* Creating a comprehensive database of prospective community and corporate partners.

* Developing outreach materials for partnership cultivation.

* Preparing sponsorship and donor engagement resources.

* Supporting the planning and execution of at least one community engagement or fundraising initiative.

* Completing a community partnership research report with recommendations.

For students participating in consecutive internships, later projects will build upon previous work by allowing the intern to take greater ownership of partnership cultivation, event coordination, strategic planning, and leadership initiatives.
